Our client a multinational organization with offices in several continents is urgently looking to fill vacancies for their operation at Diego Garcia, Indian Ocean Highland.
POSITION TITLE: STAND-BY (INSTALLED) and PORTABLE GENERATOR OPERATOR
DEPARTMENT: ELECTRICAL POWER GENERATION AND DISTRIBUTION
POSITION REPORT TO: POWER PLANT SUPERINTENDENT
DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assists the project team by input to identify key success factors, timing of design and procurement deliverables, and establishing common work breakdown structures.
• Provides leadership to cause the creation of organizational structure and processes required to fully execute the requirements of services and is responsible for the execution of Power Generation services, quality, subcontractor performance, and construction cost.
• Evaluates Power Generation service execution for compliance to contract, design data, schedule, cost budgets, and quality, advising the project team of status, issues, impacts, risk, and cost influence factors on to go scope.
• Monitors the implementation of safety orientations, safety indoctrinations and gang box meetings and provides coaching for improvement.
• Reviews and monitors cost and man-hour budget for installation process and develops a staff facilities equipment and tool requirement plan.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
◦ Must demonstrate the basic skills in all assignments associated with the operation and maintenance of the power generation plants and power plant control systems including the following as a minimum:
a) Starting and securing engines.
b) Paralleling AC generators, transferring, adding or shedding loads.
c) Making necessary adjustments to maintain voltage and frequency within specified ranges.
d) Taking the necessary casualty control and corrective measures for all emergency power generation situations.
e) Exhibiting advanced knowledge and skills in Lube Oil and Jacket Water programs.
f) Exhibiting advanced knowledge and skills in computer operation and utilization.
◦ Must be able to read, interpret blueprints and design and follow engineering drawings, specifications and instructions.
◦ Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to, bending, standing, climbing or walking.
◦ Must be able to safely use manual tools and power equipment.
◦ Must speak, read, and understand the English Language.
◦ Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
◦ Must have a valid Non-Pro or Professional Driver’s License with at least Restriction Code 2.
◦ Must have flexibility to work non-traditional hours, including on-call shifts.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING:
◦ Completed TESDA course with the National Certifications is a plus:
a) Diesel Power Plant Maintenance NC III
b) Diesel Power Plant Operation and Maintenance NC II & III
c) Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II, III & IV
d) Plant Maintenance NC I, II, III
◦ Completed TESDA course with the following National Certifications is required.
◦ Carpentry NC II, III
EDUCATION:
• Must have at least a High school Diploma, Technical or Vocational school graduate is required.
EXPERIENCE:
• Must have at least 3 years of documented work experience in all assignments associated with the operation and maintenance of various small diesel engines and generation units.
Basic terms of the job offer.
• Assignment Duration: 12 months. Renewal subject to performance and project status.
• Base Monthly Salary: 48 hours per week minimum work requirement: $698.40 (based on 48 hr. work week requirement)
• Working schedule: 48 hours per week (8 hours per day/6 days a week)
• Payroll period: Monthly. Amount give take home.
• Overtime: Work more than 8 hours per day or work performed on a rest day and/or holiday,
will be paid as overtime at the base salary rate.
• Accommodations: Housing, transportation, meals in-country, and laundry facilities are provided
• Sick Leave: Employee will accrue 2.67 hours of sick leave for each full month of service, beginning with the completion of the first full month of Foreign Service employment.
• Annual leave Up to 21 days paid at the end of each 12-month contract.
• Travel will be provided by the employer to the employee’s home country.
• Project Holidays: 10 paid holidays. New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday, President’s Day, Philippine Independence Day, USA Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day

• Your Passport must be valid for at least 12 months, with at least 6 total blank visa pages remaining.
• Your driver’s license must be valid for at least 6 months (unless processing for a CDL-required position, which will require 12 months remaining).
