Our client a multinational organization with offices in several continents is urgently looking to fill vacancies for their operation at Diego Garcia, Indian Ocean Highland.

POSITION TITLE: AIRCRAFT EQUIPMENT REFUELING OPERATOR (AERO)

DEPARTMENT: POL MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONS

POSITION REPORT TO: POL ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT

DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform pre-operational inspections and preventive maintenance on fuel vehicles, pantographs, filter separators and truck fill-stands as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Fuels Operating Instructions (FOIs) and standard work practices as required. Complete required operational checklists and forms and forward to Controller. Report all material and safety discrepancies to Controller and/or fuels supervision.

  • Perform aircraft, ship, ground servicing equipment and vehicle refueling/defueling operations using aircraft direct fueling fuel systems (pantographs), mobile fuel vehicles and truck fill-stands. Recirculate and obtain low point drain samples from vehicles and equipment prior to operations; conduct tank-to-tank and truck-to-distribution system/tank transfers and perform pre/post operation gauging and product temperature measurements of tanks as required.

  • Observe gauging and metering devices during operations; report readings as required, and immediately advise Controller and/or supervision of any abnormal operating conditions.

  • Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow applicable safety procedures. Ensure safety of personnel and equipment during operations and stop operations should any safety discrepancy occur.

  • Adhere with fuels publications guidelines and NAVAIR 00-80T-109 outlined checklists.

  • Contain spills and perform clean-up as directed.

  • Perform other duties as directed by Fuels supervision.

BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have good oral and written communication skills which enable you to effectively liaise with clients, other departments within the organization, subcontractors and clients, and report directly to the POL operations.

  • Particular attention to details, good project management skills.

  • Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.

  • Must be contract oriented and computer literate in Microsoft Office software.

  • Must have a valid and be able to obtain driver’s license with restriction code at least 2.

  • Must have a valid and be able to Airfield Vehicle Operations Instructor Course obtain driver’s license.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING

  • Prior qualification in fixed aviation fuel system servicing of aircraft (pantograph or hydrants) is desired.

  • Must obtain Diego Garcia driving license.

  • Must complete initial Airfield Vehicle Operations Instructions Course.

  • AERO personnel shall be:

    • Qualified in using NATO Hand Signals.

    • Qualified to check for hot brakes.

    • Qualified to connect, test, and operate the refueling nozzle and perform primary and secondary shut-off valve tests.

    • Qualified as a fire watch and capable of operating fire extinguishing equipment at hot sites.

    • All personnel shall be trained/certified accordance with NAVAIR 00-80T-109 prior to commencement of work

    • All personnel operating Air Force fueling/refueling equipment shall be trained and certified in accordance with AFI 36-2201.

    • Personnel must meet Personnel Qualification Standard (PQS) for Aviation Fuel Operations Ashore (NAVEDTRA 43288).

EDUCATION:

    • Must have at least a high school diploma, technical or vocational course graduate is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in fuel servicing of aircraft using fixed systems or fuel tank truck vehicles.

  • Familiar with the general characteristics and hazards of petroleum products, use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and fire and oil spill prevention procedures.

Basic terms of the job offer.

  • Assignment Duration: 12 months. Renewal subject to performance and project status.

  • Base Monthly Salary: 48 hours per week minimum work requirement: $600.00 (based on 48 hr. work week requirement)

  • Working schedule: 48 hours per week (8 hours per day/6 days a week)

  • Payroll period: Monthly. Amount give take home.

  • Overtime: Work more than 8 hours per day or work performed on a rest day and/or holiday, will be paid as overtime at the base salary rate.

  • Accommodations: Housing, transportation, meals in-country, and laundry facilities are provided

  • Sick Leave: Employee will accrue 2.67 hours of sick leave for each full month of service, beginning with the completion of the first full month of Foreign Service employment.

  • Annual leave Up to 21 days paid at the end of each 12-month contract.

  • Travel will be provided by the employer to the employee’s home country.

Other requirements

  • Your Passport must be valid for at least 12 months, with at least 6 total blank visa pages remaining.

  • Your driver’s license must be valid for at least 6 months.

  • Updated covid and yellow fever vaccination certificate

  • Medical exam report at a date to be advised.
