POSITION TITLE: Mechanical Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Facility Management (SEHP)
POSITION REPORT TO: Facilities Management Director
OVERVIEW:
Responsible for managing and overseeing design for new construction, renovations, and improvements including MEP utility systems, utilizing a professional knowledge of mechanical engineering. The SEHP project is a new Containerized, two-story complex built on previous demolished land. The MEP elements include sewer pump system and piping, HVAC systems and installations, water heaters and FFHC water piping, and Fire Water systems including sprinklers in containers. Prepares project design during construction or As-Built drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates for facility and infrastructure projects for construction. Responsible for ensuring project designs meet customers’ requirements and adhere to all applicable code requirements and industry standards. Directs inspectors in construction management activities and solves construction issues as they arise. Develops engineering standards for installation facilities construction. Develops and champions the installation’s goal to provide quality facilities. Evaluates plans/criteria and complete special analyses supporting efforts accomplished by others. Provides technical expertise in a variety of mechanical engineering activities. Liaises with customers and supervisors to plan, manage, design, and supervise the construction of projects.
DESCRIPTION OF JOB TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing technical advice and support on the design during construction engineering and construction of mechanical systems for building projects.
- Designs plan for mechanical and plumbing systems for new and existing facilities and develop building construction and building renovation projects to include mechanical and plumbing systems such as new sewer wet well, some 400 HVACs, Fire Protection, and other related systems while working closely with other team members.
- Develops project specifications and drawings while considering the implications such as cost, safety, and time constraints within the responsibility of compliance in design.
- Performs field work, gather information relevant to an assigned project, conduct project site visit during construction to ensure work is done IAW contract drawings and documents, and resolve issues as required during construction.
- Under direct supervision, evaluates, selects, and applies standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Works with CAD designer to ensure As-Builts accurately reflect construction and detail any cross-over of other utilities and top of pipe survey points to be recorded.
- Assignments usually include one or more of the following: design and development, testing of materials, preparation or checking of design calculations and specifications, studies, research investigations, report preparation, and other activities of limited scope.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
BASIC JOB QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):
- Particular attention to detail, good project management, and leadership skills.
- Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and follow through to completion of multiple tasks, under strict deadlines and changing priorities.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills which enable effective liaison with clients, other departments within the organization, subcontractors, and clients, and report directly to Senior Management.
- Must possess administrative, organizational, and computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including (MS Word, PowerPoint, MS Projects or equivalent, Excel, Outlook, and work with CAD systems).
- Must pass overseas medical screening and be in good health.
- Must have a valid country of origin Professional Driver’s License and be able to operate the assigned vehicles.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS OR TRAINING
- Must have an Engineering license from the Government of nationality is required.
- Licensed Mechanical Engineer
- Must have completed Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Servicing from the country of origin.
- Environmental Protection Agency Section 608 “Universal” Certification is highly preferred.
EDUCATION:
Must have a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university or college.
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have at least five (5) years of experience in mechanical engineering.
- Military experience in a contingency environment and knowledge and experience working with government contracts is preferred.
Basic terms of the job offer.
- Assignment Duration: 12 months. Renewal subject to performance.
- Base Monthly Salary: 48 hours per week minimum work requirement: $1600.00 (based on 48 hr. work week requirement)
- Working schedule: 48 hours per week (8 hours per day/6 days a week)
- Payroll period: Monthly. Amount give take home.
- Overtime: Work more than 8 hours per day or work performed on a rest day and/or holiday, will be paid as overtime at the base salary rate.
- Accommodations: Housing, transportation, meals in-country, and laundry facilities are provided
- Sick Leave: Employee will accrue 2.67 hours of sick leave for each full month of service, beginning with the completion of the first full month of Foreign Service employment.
- Annual leave Up to 21 days paid at the end of each 12-month contract.
- Travel will be provided by the employer to the employee’s home country.
